Renovations & Administration Reconstruction Project
Sanitary District No. 6 is modernizing it's facilities to better serve the public and maximize the safety and efficiency of its operations.
The project involves the reconstruction of the administrative offices at 80 Cherry Valley Avenue, West Hempstead.
This project is fully funded by the District's Capital Projects Fund. The project will not result in any additional cost to the taxpayers.
The renovations will allow the District to be fully ADA compliant as well as upgrading the current fire suppression system. Other changes will allow the District to serve it's residents in a more cost-effective manner.
Work on the project will be performed in strict compliance with prevailing wages and will rely heavily on union labor.
Sanitary District No. 6 is proud to serve it's taxpayers in a fiscally responsible manner while offering the finest sanitation collection and disposal services.
- Administrative Building and Mechanics Repair Shop originally built in the 1920’s
- Last renovated in 1971
- Not ADA accessible
- Truck Garage (Barn Building) originally built in 1977
- Currently No Fire Suppression System

- The project was awarded through a competitive bidding process
- NYS General Municipal Law § 101 known as Wicks Law
- Federal & State Grant funding being sought
